Strong eucalyptus bath salts

December 19th, 2006 by Lizzard

Strong-smelling stuff that it isn’t perfumey, that’s what I like best. I have asthma and allergies, so “Village Naturals Therapy for the Bath Cold & Sinus Therapeutic Formula” made me flare my nostrils with joy when I saw it in the local Longs’ Drugs. I took the lid off and stuck my nose in. Whooo! It nearly made me pass out, and it was under 10 bucks.

About naturalness, who the hell knows? Maybe there’s some alien planet where Tocopheryl Acetate seeps out of the pores of the Tocopheryl Acetate tree. But most of the top ingredients (besides salt) are things like camphor, eucalyptus, menthol, ginseng, and echinacea. That all sounds great.

Elaborate fancy names always make a bath product better. If we count the subheading on the name, “Natural Mineral Bath Soak, echinacea ginseng tea tree” then we’re up to 124 characters for the title length. It’s like the stuff had so many great qualities, the marketing people couldn’t make up their minds and had to throw it all into the name.

The stuff reeks in the most delicious way of an unholy combination of Vicks Vap-o-rub, Icy Hot, and Tiger Balm. I mean it. If you have any good associations with Vicks, or you like to drink gross herbal tea, you’ll feel like a floating happy lump of sugar in a mug of hot medicinal eucalyptus infusion.

I put about a half a tablespoon in my bath. The camphor made my skin all tingly, even when I didn’t scrub hard. That’s incredibly strong stuff! If you’re jaded and like strong bath salts, then go for it.

Do not exfoliate any tender areas with Village Naturals Natural Mineral Bath Soak Cold & Sinus junk. Do not put this junk directly on your junk. It might be a bad idea to shave or get waxed and then sit in “Tiger Balm Soup,” if you know what I mean.

What do I know, though… I used to smear that Vicks VapoRub stuff on the inside of my nostrils.

A+ for being in a tall skinny jar with a screw top lid.

You can buy it at Longs Drugs, Target, Walmart, or Hardtofindbrands.com.

Have a nice bath!
